Please review these changes and send any suggested modifications to Kris or Joan.

New members and guests are always welcome.

June 2010: Potluck Luncheon and Picnic Project

Friday, June 11 at 11:00 we will have our Summer Potluck Luncheon at Vilija's house.
For directions to the June luncheon, please email Vilija or Carol.

Please bring a dish to share and the silk scarf you tied at the last meeting to continue with the Shibori type of knotting and dyeing.
At the luncheon we will be dyeing the scarf.

Details from Vilija:
The dyeing will be with 'fiber reactive' dyes, so that means you put on the color and let the scarf sit in a plastic bag for a minimum of 3 hrs.
in this method, more than one color can be put on for a hippie-like tie-dye.
or, if i have a steamer on hand, the scarf could steam for 30 minutes and then be re-tied and dyed.

Also at the June picnic meeting we will have a silent auction of the many yarns, fiber and weaving equipment that Julie's husband donated to the guild.
The two large looms will not be there, as they are big and not easy to move!
However, if anyone would like to come and see the looms, please contact Carol.

For Sale:

Fiber Elements closing sale:
From Maria Inglesby, who gave a knitting talk for Diablo Weavers several years ago:

(1) I have a Gilmore Loom for sale.  It's a 4-harness, foldable, 46 inch, 6 treadle. I am first and foremost a knitter.

(2) My business Fiber Elements is closing.  I will be selling all inventory items, to include needles, at a 25% discount.

The shop / studio is located at 407 Oakwood Drive in Fairfield.

We'll be open from 10:00 a.m. thorugh 4:00

The reason that we believe the sale might be of interest to the weavers is that the inventory includes wools and wool/silk blends on 1lb cones by the company JaggerSpun.  I also have silk lace yarns by Treenway Silks. The cones are in crates at the moment and easily transportable.  If the weavers would like me to bring those to one of your guild / weaving meetings; I'd be happy to provide that service.

I can be reached at Mariaknits@gmail.com or at 707.863.7370.
